I began Courage Unravelled as a podcaster and coach (for the sake of satisfying Google SEO and search words) but calling myself a coach just didn’t sit well, so I reverted to being called a trainer as this is what I am first and foremost. An educator who likes to connect with others.
Adult education, consulting, health and wellness, clinical practice, running a small business and being a business advisor are part of who I am or have been in my professional life. For over 20 years. My life as an educator means that I teach, train, facilitate and develop programs. My expertise lies in natural therapies, health and wellness and business development. I assess, mentor, guide and support participants (or students) to reach (academic) goals, practical learning outcomes and take part in professional development and personal growth. It’s brilliant. I love watching people grow and transform. This is why I developed and facilitate the Courage Mindset Immersion program. It’s a combination of training and one-to-one connection.
I bring all of the above skill sets, research and lived experience into the Courage Mindset Immersion Program. I share stories so that you understand and know I have walked the path of courage too. Walking my talk is very important and I want you to know that.
Courage is a word that seems to be trending right now. I thank researcher Brene Brown for giving it a platform. I seriously started noticing courage as a character strength in 2014 when studying for my Master of (Adult) Education. I studied positive psychology as part of the Master program and that was it. I haven’t looked back.
Courage as a character strength opens the door to so much in life. If you are willing, it will bring you the gifts of improved confidence and self-esteem when you conquer your fears. It provides the grit to help you persevere when things get tough, builds strength during times of adversity and fosters resilience when things don’t go your way. It also teaches you that kindness, vulnerability and patience are strengths. You may find people identify courage with audacity and boldness. Boldness is courageous if you are afraid to ‘speak up’ or ‘be visible’ in the first instance.
When you decide to put your trust in me as a courage mindset trainer we work together and take a deep dive into the world of courage. We explore what it is and isn’t and what it means to you. We look at courage and fear and what area you want to explore to build a courage mindset.
Positive Psychology founding fathers Dr Martin Seligman and the late Christopher Peterson (1950-2012) outlined 24 character strengths as Virtues in Action. When you and I work together we take a deep dive into just one. Courage.
Like anything, the more you focus your attention on something and start to live and breathe it, things start to change. To change requires courage and a lot of people choose not to change because it’s really hard. It means stepping outside your own comfort zone. To step up and out of your comfort zone brings up levels of discomfort and fear.
In the program you start to grow your courage muscle by doing activities relating to courage, consistently over time. And you don’t stop if you want to create a courage mindset and make change become transformative. You keep going. I train you in a group environment as well as offer one-to-one sessions during the program. There is a face-to-face group work option (close to where I live) as well as an online option.
Building your courage muscle to create a courage mindset is about self-development. Whatever reason you choose to develop a courage mindset will spill into other areas of life. Work, business, and the relationship you have with yourself. When we work together it’s important for there to be synergy and connection. My role is to train, support and guide you during your immersion into courage. I guide you through activities and reflections. There will be things only you can do. To take part in a Courage Mindset Immersion program you need to practice and activate by doing, reflecting and being. You also share to learn and commit – so that you grow.
I have an holistic approach as a courage mindset trainer. This means I take into consideration mental, physical, spiritual and emotional aspects of the human condition and the world around you (your current and previous world). This comes naturally to me. After all I was in therapeutic practice for 20 years. I am practical, down to earth, direct-ish, honest, enthusiastic, kind and compassionate. My teaching style encompasses these attributes along with being relaxed, sometimes passionate as well as open.
It takes commitment for both of us to work together so that you build a courage mindset to make positive change happen. I am willing, as long as you are. Health, small business, work-related areas and building a positive relationship with yourself are where my skillsets lie.
The Courage Mindset Immersion group program is being launched in February 2022. A bespoke personalised Courage Mindset Immersion group program is available now.
